Rawan Arar, Ph.D.
Rawan Arar is an Assistant Professor in the Law, Societies, and Justice department at the University of Washington. She completed her Ph.D. in sociology at the University of California San Diego and a postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs. Rawan received her B.A. in sociology from the University of Texas, San Antonio and M.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies from the University of Texas, Austin. Her scholarship has been published in Annual Review of Sociology, Contexts, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, Journal of Middle East Law and Governance, and Nations and Nationalism. Rawan has also written for other academic and policy-oriented outlets including the Middle East Institute, the Scholars Strategy Network, and the Washington Post’s Monkey Cage Blog.
